Captain, you certainly have brought us some exciting news. Swampcats in our very midst! Who would have thought they would be so bold? Well, the next obvious step is to go to the fishing village on L'Île Duval and talk to Bertrand himself. That is, if he is there... and, of course, if you are ready for more adventure.
Once you have spoken to Bertrand and found out what the devil that scoundrel has been up to, bring your report to Pierre Fournnier here. I believe it's his turn to pay the prospective peer.
Also, Nadine has asked to speak with you. She wants to join you in your search for her husband.

Little Madeira Bay
After you have a chat with Bertrand and his new interest in Squid, you return to your ship to discover that the Swampcats have kidnapped Nadine! Bertrand appears to be in alliance with the Swampcats and tells you to stop your foolish search.
(If you focus on getting him to submit, the other Swampcats will cease their attack).
