The Medway Longboat is a non-combat vessel.
History
The Medway was a famous Royal Navy Yard near Rodchester, England. The Medway longboat is a typical small vessel able to be propelled by sail or oars. It could serve as a ship's boat, as a lighter in the harbor, or as a small cargo vessel. This boat was modelled by KrisWood, a member of the FLS Ship User Content Committee.
Strategy and Use
In the game the Medway longboat is a pleasure craft for racing.
Tactics
Due to its high base speed of 70 knots on the Open Sea (OS) and its' cargo capacity of 10 tons the Medway Longboat may be used for smuggling small expensive loads. However, with a base Battle Speed of 13 knots it cannot outrun pursuers if caught in an instance. To avoid NPC encounters activate your PvP flag which makes you immune to NPC attack and gives your vessel a slight OS speed boost.
Comparable Ships
Trusty Longboat and Hornet Gunboat
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Medway Longboat is sloop rigged, that is having jib sails fore and a gaff sail aft. A vessel with a similar rig is the Zuiderzee Yacht.
